About this Procedure
| Procedure: | Improves loose neck skin and/or excess heaviness by removing fat (liposculpture), tightening the muscles and re-draping the skin. If required, a Platysmaplasty procedure is necessary to improve the vertical hanging lines in the front of the neck. Often done in combination with face lift procedure. |
| Length: | 1.5 – 2.5 hours |
| Anesthesia: | Typically local anesthesia with sedation |
| Outpatient: | Usually outpatient |
| Side Effects: | Numbness, discomfort, bruising, swelling, drainage or fluid under skin, tightness moving head and neck |
| Risks: | Infection, bleeding, poor wound healing, excessive scarring |
| Recovery: | Typically 5 to 7 days. Wearing a compression wrap for 2 weeks. Suture removal in 10-12 days, sometimes longer. More strenuous activity requires 4 weeks or more. Bruising: 1 to 2 weeks. |
| Results: | Usually 5 to 10 years |
